Independent creative and media agency Enigma has recruited four media coordinators for its latest Media Academy training program.

Chloe Goodwin, Connor Daniel, Annabelle Corp and Samuel Bottom join the development initiative launched in 2022.

The program is led by media managing director Amy Dascanio with support from executive director Sally Lawrence and group director Jesse McColl.

"Having grown the media team from six to 40 staff in last eight years has been an amazing journey," said Dascanio.

"To now see a lot of our own talent moving through the ranks and having the ability to lead and support the training of these new recruits is very special to watch.

“Developing and growing the next generation of media talent will require us as an industry to think differently."

Enigma has built team structures integrating traditional and digital channels with performance, data and technology specialists over eight years.

The training covers all media platforms and planning principles to provide coordinators with understanding of how channels work together.

The agency operates with 80 staff across Sydney and Newcastle offices, working with national brands and government agencies.

Chief media officer Justin Ladmore said the program reflects traditional industry training approaches updated for current needs.

"I started in media exactly the same way 26 years ago at Universal McCann," Ladmore said.

"There was a group of coordinators that all started together, and we went through an intense training program.

“We learnt together and supported each other. It helped us get through the stresses of a media agency. Most of us are still in the industry today and remain great friends."

The training uses content developed with support from the Independent Media Agencies of Australia, Interactive Advertising Bureau and media partners.

Courtney Birch, a media manager who began her career in the inaugural 2022 cohort, said the academy provided comprehensive understanding across marketing channels.

"The academy helped me grow quickly and gave me the confidence to understand how all the pieces of marketing and all the media channels connect," Birch said.

"It means I can have deeper conversations with our clients without needing to hand them over to someone else."

Enigma also collaborates with University of Newcastle, welcoming marketing and communications students for industry experience and providing insights on media planning, buying and emerging technology through integrated learning programs.
