Emotive has promoted Sebastian Revell to chief strategy officer, more than 12 months after joining the company as executive strategy partner.

"It seems like yesterday that Simon sold me on the vision of working for an indie with bundles of ambition, but that was in a transformative period with lots to work on," Revell told AdNews.

"And gone to work we have! There's so much to be proud of in the momentum we've built over the last year - from winning pitches and working with ambitious marketers at the likes of AMP North, Perfection Fresh and Google Pixel, to creating work that positively changes how people feel about our brands, every day.

"I'm happy to have played a small part in it, but I'm mainly happy to work with a bunch of 'S' tier operators over in Coogee, who buy into our growth vision and Emotive's journey."

Emotive CEO Simon Joyce said that beyond his exceptional ability to enjoy a celebratory Fireball, Seb is first and foremost a wonderful human and a seriously gifted strategist.

"Brand strategy, creative strategy, content strategy, connections strategy. He has it all," Joyce said.

"Over the past year, he has had a massive impact on the business. Not just on the quality of the thinking and the work, but on the culture, energy and ambition of the place. Putting it simply.... he makes the work better and he makes Emotive a better place work.

"Congratulations mate. Thanks for a massive year."

Revell was previously with TBWA since 2019, most recently leading the agency’s strategic direction on Tourism New Zealand, mycar Tyre & Auto, AWS and Apple.

He has a 16-year career that has spanned both media and creative agency roles in Australia and the UK, as well as a stint client-side.
