Dymocks has launched its first national TV advertising campaign in eight years.

The Shop Your Locally Owned store campaign rolled out on Sunday and aims to capitalise on the increased interest in books since the pandemic began.

The TV spot was inspired by Dymocks franchise owner Janelle Fyson in Toowoomba who personally delivered books, games, puzzles and activities on her motorbike to local customers during lockdown.

“Dymocks is Australia’s oldest bookstore with stores all over Australia,” says Gail McWhinnie, Dymocks marketing and loyalty manager.

“During lockdown we saw some wonderful community spirit which highlighted how important books, puzzles and activities were to people. Our TV ad is a celebration of this community spirit that encompasses the Dymocks culture."

Sydney-based film production company WALRUS was appointed to produce the ad. Key creatives Matt Maule and Tom Stephens developed the script and storyline.

The ad is being shown nationally on free-to-air and pay TV.
