Sydney-based digital agency Pollen Digital has appointed Droga5 director of digital Brett Mitchell as director.

Pollen creative director and founding partner Ross Gales told AdNews the agency was looking to evolve its advertising offering to be more direct-to-client, rather than primarily as a production house. Gales said the addition of Mitchell will enhance Pollen's digital strategy capabilities.

Mitchell, who takes up the position in June, has been with Droga5 for the past three years as director of digital and has previously worked for Moon, Newgency and Tequila. He also owned indie record label Thunk Recordings.

Previously, Pollen has worked with Droga5 on Carlton United Breweries brands VB, Crown, Cascade and VB Raw, as well as Telstra and V Australia. Gales expects the relationship with Droga5 will deepen with Mitchell on board at Pollen.

Pollen technical director and founding partner Richard Bordes said: " Pollen has always offered a balance of technical and creative services, Brett’s appointment brings to the company the brand experience and integrated strategic approach that we require as we move into our next phase of growth."

Droga5 executive planning director and partner Sudeep Gohil said: "In this new capacity, the Droga5 team is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the Pollen team  - including Brett - to produce more high-calibre integrated digital projects that deliver exceptional results for our clients."

Pollen has recently picked up digital business for EBay and HCF.
