The digital media industry in Australia has rallied around local Twitter staff who became victim’s of Elon Musk’s brutal global axing of half the social media platform’s headcount.

Jobs offers have been flowing and globally there’s a Tweeps Talent Directory, an online list of former Twitter staff looking for roles.

Locally, a LinkedIn post NEED YOUR HELP, by Jonathan Munschi, Head of Sales ANZ, Twitter, has attracted a strong response.

“We have incredible talents looking to start a new chapter across content, sales, marketing, and more. If you have positions available, I urge you to consider these legends.

“The industry has shown many times its humanity, I’m counting on you all to show up once again.”

Gayle Tomlinson, editor, Illawarra Mercury: “It’s been painful watching so many talented people lose their jobs. ACM has a few journalist roles going and I’m specifically looking for a breaking news reporter. I’m sure anyone who worked in Twitter curation would be a good fit for the Mercury.”

Samara Ross, social media coordinator: "Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders Australia is recruiting several marketing positions based in Sydney. We'd welcome such amazing talent to join our work providing medical humanitarian aid to people in need."

Chris Manson, country manager, AU/NZ at Ogury: “We're on a pretty hot growth streak at Ogury (mobile ad tech) and going hard on sales and clients success roles in Melb and Syd. Happy to chat through with anyone in the team.”

Ashley Botten, sales leader, Tipalti: “We’re hiring in UK and EU and love a bit of digital ad sales and adtech ecosystem experience. Timing off for ANZ but if you know good people looking for a home I’d love to hear from you.”

Nathan Willbourn-Trevett, head of region, APAC, at BuzzFeed: “BuzzFeed APAC will be recruiting for a Client Partner to join the sales team. Please get in touch if this role would be of any interest.”

Ryan Hanly, co-founder, at Travello: “Travello is hiring across a number of roles (AU based).”

Craig Bonser, senior agency development ANZ, Amazon Ads: “So sorry to hear buddy and keen to help where I can. I’ll message you some details from Amazon side and any other roles I know about.”

Sofia Basie, strategy & business operations, Atlassian: “I feel very invested and am happy to help if I can. Atlassian has a number of roles open across Strategy & Biz Ops, Product Management and Engineering. Do these skills match anyone you know?”

Adrian Bingham, head of enterprise sales, Spotify, AUNZ: “Really sorry to see the impact on you and the wider team. Spotify currently has a number of open roles in the ANZ and APAC regions that could be of interest.”

Paul Connell, CMO, Big Red Group: “So sorry to see this happen. We have a host of roles available and also happy to help connect people via the marketing academy etc too.”
