Dentsu has been appointed media partner for Preventive Health SA's Tobacco Cessation and Vaping Control account, taking over from Wavemaker, which held the contract for more than 10 years.
The appointment follows a competitive South Australian Government procurement process.
The campaign runs through FY26/27 and targets smokers and vapers in the moments they're most likely to light up or vape, offering pathways to quit and support for long-term behaviour change.
Hannah Fisher, client partner, and Mark Dunn, digital director, at dentsu will lead media strategy, planning, investment and optimisation for the campaign. The pair bring a combined 15 years' experience on government campaigns.
Fisher pointed to dentsu's seven years on the South Australian Government Master Media Panel.
"Working alongside Preventive Health SA, we're excited to help build a campaign that connects with people in meaningful ways and supports healthier communities across SA," she said.
Chelsea Murphy, senior project officer at Preventive Health SA, said reducing smoking and vaping remained a priority for the organisation.
"In selecting dentsu, we will be delivering a campaign that combines evidence-based behavioural insights with innovative media thinking, helping South Australians act, and access the support they need to quit," Murphy said.
