December Podcast Ranker: Hamish and Andy continue to dominate

Hamish and Andy on SCA’s LiSTNR continue to dominate the podcast landscape, as the comedy duo take out the top spot for the Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA) December Podcast Ranker, with 609,350 monthly listeners. 

In second is Mamamia (560,895), followed by ABC News Top Stories (524,580), Sky News Update (449, 275) and The Grade Cricketer (424,672). 

The most popular podcast genres for December were news (4,663,454), society and culture (3,646,984), true crime (2,588,481), sports (2,516,865) and comedy (2,588,481).

New Year resolutions appear to have inspired the popularity of health and fitness content with a 12% audience share. 

These are engaged, loyal listeners with 54% listening for two to five years and 35% planning to buy gym memberships or fitness equipment in the next year

Nearly three-quarters (72%) are aged 25–54. 

Those planning to buy gym memberships or fitness equipment are also tuning into business (32%) and education (31%) podcasts. 

“Podcast audiences are active, loyal, and commercially engaged,” said Lizzie Young, CEO of CRA. 

“Whether they're listening for leisure, planning purchases, or deepening knowledge, they're listening with intent. The Ranker delivers the verified insights advertisers need to reach consumers who are ready to act.”
