Alex Lubar has left his role as global CEO of Omnicom agency DDB, ahead of the parent company’s takeover of IPG.
The DDB brand, according to widespread but unconfirmed reports, will be retired when Omnicom and IPG combine.
Lubar has become chief executive of brand consulting firm Fundamentalco, established by former Droga5 executive Jonny Bauer.
No word from DDB on who will fill the role.
“We have an exceptionally strong leadership team in place who will remain focused on delivering outstanding work for our clients and supporting our people,” DDB said.
Omnicom, posting September quarter organic growth of 2.6%, expects its takeover of competitor IPG to be final this month.
The marriage of rivals brings together the third biggest advertising group, Omnicom, with the fourth, IPG, to form a company with 100,000 people and revenue of $25.6 billion (net revenue of $20 billion), with 57% of that in the US.
