Zoe McLaren, the fourth recipient of the annual David Leckie Seven Scholarship Program, has joined Seven West Media.

She is a recent graduate of Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, where she completed a Bachelor of Media and Communications (Advertising).

Since joining Seven, McLaren has been working with the Sydney creative team on the 7plus series Reality Check, creating social content to promote new episodes.

The scholarship program was established in 2021 to honour the late Seven West Media CEO David Leckie.

The scholarship offers a 12-month role at Seven for a graduate with a passion for the media industry and was set up in partnership with the Leckie family.

“We are so honoured that David’s legacy lives on through this incredible scholarship at Seven, helping to nurture the next generation of talent in the media industry - something he cared about so deeply,” Skye, Harry and Ben Leckie said.

“Zoe truly stood out as an exceptional young woman, and we are absolutely delighted to see her receive this year’s David Leckie Seven Scholarship. It’s such a wonderful opportunity for her to follow her passion for storytelling and gain hands-on experience in production - David would have loved that.

“A heartfelt thank you to Kerry, Jeff and everyone at Seven for continuing to support this special initiative and for choosing another outstanding recipient. We are so excited for Zoe and can’t wait to see where this journey takes her.”

Seven West Media managing director and CEO Jeff Howard said McLaren’s enthusiasm made her the standout candidate for this year’s scholarship.

“She is passionate about telling powerful, creative stories that spark a conversation, and she’ll have plenty of opportunities to do just that at Seven,” he said.

“Seven is proud to support a scholarship program that serves as a lasting tribute to David’s legacy as an outstanding leader within our industry. This program also reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of media professionals as they begin their careers.

“Along with Skye, Harry and Ben, I wish Zoe all the best for her time at Seven and welcome her to our team.”
