Industry figures are leading the way in getting vaccinated against COVID-19, many of them announcing the occasion of double vax via social media. AdNews asked them about their motivation and experiences.

Nicole Wolfe, MediaCom Digital Investment Executive:

Earlier in August, I attended one of the many NSW Health vaccination clinics in Sydney to get my COVID-19 vaccination – the easiest decision I’ve made all year. It was a streamlined process and I was in, jabbed, and out within 30 minutes. There was such a positive atmosphere at the hub, and I had no side effects to report.

Everyone has lost something due to the pandemic, whether that’s trips abroad long planned for, visits to family interstate, or just going to the pub with friends. Plenty have also lost family members to the virus itself and have been impacted by declining mental health due to constant lockdowns.

Getting vaccinated is our chance to come out the other side. Not only are we protecting ourselves from the worst effects of the virus, but we’re helping the wider community build a wall of defence for our health departments. We're all craving a return to normality and rolling up our sleeves is the best way to secure our return to a free, open Australia.

Having moved to Australia from Scotland two years ago, my entire family and plenty of friends are abroad so I have huge personal ties outside the country. On a basic level, I want to be able to hug my mum again and spend time with my family and friends. Time is precious and, after already losing two years, I don’t want to miss out on any more life events. Getting vaccinated is the only way I can hope to see my loved ones again, so it was a no brainer.

The support from GroupM and MediaCom to take time off for vaccination is such a positive incentive and my manager was very encouraging to take whatever time I needed for my appointment. Ease of access at all entry points is important so I’m grateful this was ensured.

I’m such a big advocate for vaccination, and I encourage everyone to get involved as soon as possible. After all, the best vaccine is the one in your arm. Spread the message to everyone you know that the vaccines are our collective ticket to freedom. Life is for living, and I can’t wait to get stuck back in!
