COVID Commentary - Double jab for Mark Coad at Mediabrands Australia

Industry figures are leading the way in getting vaccinated against COVID-19, many of them announcing the occasion of double vax via social media. AdNews asked them about their motivation and experiences.

I get my second AZ jab next Tuesday, my first was on June 1st.

I must admit, I did wait a few weeks – mainly because I’ve never liked putting stuff in my body. I rarely even take Panadol. The media was also playing up some of the side effects.

Then two things changed in my mind. Firstly, I heard some commentary suggesting that if you had to drive more than 4km to get your shot – you were at more risk as a road fatality than to AZ side effects.

Now, I’m no doctor – so don’t take that as fact – but it did make me realise just how small those chances were.

Secondly, it occurred to me that if everybody took my approach and waited – we’d all be in this mess a lot longer.

So I booked in next day. You’ll have your own reasons and rationale – but I do believe that vaccination is our ticket out of this mess.
