Josh Hickie, the winner of Adrenaline and GoPro's 'Best Job in the world' 2022 competition, provides an insight to the life of a content creator.

Hickie impressed the Judging panel by presenting an array of images and video edits of him and his friends foil boarding.

He was awarded a $100,000 contract that will see him shoot 12 adventures for Adrenaline, spanning travel, skydiving and climbing, over the course of the next 12 months.

Hickie spoke with AdNews about the inspiration behind his career goals and what the life of a travelling content creator looks like.

What is your day to day like?
"That's a hard one because I have absolutely no consistency in my day to day. I could spend two days shooting, followed by another two editing. I thrive in this envrionment and get a lot of fulfilment out of it, there is always something new to expereince eah day."

How important is sponsorship and advertising in the field of content creation?
"Sponsorship means more than just funding, its a validation of my skillset as a content creator and for a lot of people, it is the opportunity to turn a passion or hobby into a paying career."

What advice would you give young entrepreneurs starting out in this niche field?
"Two main things!
1) Hustle, hustle Hustle! You have to shoot your shot and build your network. Say yes even to the bad jobs, it leads to ample opportunity in the long run.
2) Never be discouraged. It's easy to look at the awesome work others are doing and to compare yourself to them. Just be you, be authentic, everyone is on their own journey."

What inspired you to dive into the world of content creation?
"Heaps of things really! It's a career or fulfillment in the creative industry. I love music, it inspires a lot of my videos. Music is visceral to me, it's completely overwhelming. i try and evoke an organic response to the music through colour, imagery and movement."

If you had to describe your job in one phrase, what would it be?
"Excitingly Chaotic!"
