Publicis led the Australia media pitch league in 2025 at a group level, generating $US208 million driven by Paramount ($34m), Mars ($34m), Aldi ($30m) and Flight Centre ($27M), according to the New Business Barometer by COMvergence,
WPP ranked second with $194 million, in part due to two of the year’s biggest pitch wins in Suncorp ($93m) and Lion ($50m).
Nunn Media with $28 million completed the top three.
Michael Rebelo, Publicis Groupe ANZ CEO, said the media practice across Australia and New Zealand has built real momentum, driven by a relentless focus on clients, capability enhancement, talent magnetism and innovation in data and technology.
"These results are not just reflective of new business won but also how we are retaining our current clients," he said. "For that, I am incredibly proud of our media leaders and teams."
At an agency level, COMvergence ranked Zenith first with $US120 million of new business thanks to wins from Mars ($34m), Aldi ($30m), Flight Centre ($27m) and EssilorLuxottica ($13m).
Mindshare ranked second generating $112 million with $93 million coming from the Suncorp win and $15 million from MG.
EssenceMediacom placed third with $110 million, driven by Lion ($50m), Max ($31m) and NRL ($15m).
Aimee Buchanan, WPP Media CEO ANZ, said having both Mindshare and Essence Mediacom ranked joint number two is also a great credit to the leadership from Maria Grivas and Pippa Berlocher and their teams.
"We are super proud that this has carried through our full year 2025 new business results," she said.
"We have a strong track record across new business and retentions, which reflects the investment we’ve made in future-facing capabilities and in our people and our leadership across the group."
Independent agencies collectively won $96 million in 2025, which would place them third overall versus the other groups.
Five indies made the top 15 in this year's rankings (including Brainlabs, Nunn Media, Match & Wood and PMG).
In 2025, COMvergence assessed 202 media account moves and retentions totalling $US1.2 billion.
Local reviews made up 75% of the total spend which is above the global report average of 58%.
