Coles pitch down, down

WPP has exited the Coles pitch due to a "conflict," leaving behind the prospect of winning one Australia's biggest accounts.

The top ten spending advertiser opened its agency roster last month, asking Omnicom, Publicis and WPP to respond to an operational RFP.

WPP wouldn't comment today but the agency's withdrawal was confirmed by Coles.

And Accenture Interactive, with its high profile creative team at The Monkey’s, is now the third arm of the pitch.

The retailer said: “Coles is very much looking forward to the ongoing process of creating a new bespoke agency model to gain even greater synergies in the way its creative, media and strategic work is performed.

"Coles requested that WPP no longer participate in the RFP after becoming aware of a future conflict which would prevent the agency working on the account.”

Coles now wants to create a bespoke model to service the retail group and its evolving business and brand requirements.

And is seeking "greater synergies in the way its creative, media and strategic" work is performed.
