Wodonga Council has appointed Co.gency to manage its media account following a competitive pitch, AdNews can reveal.

The 12-month contract forms part of the council’s annual procurement process and covers the provision of media and advertising services across a range of council communications.

The remit includes the management of weekly print advertising, such as public notices, tenders, and event listings in The Border Mail from council-supplied artwork, as well as support for broader marketing campaigns as required.

The appointment marks a shift for the council, which previously managed communications in-house and worked directly with local media and community groups.

The independent agency will now provide media planning, buying and placement, alongside strategic support for council-led promotions and campaigns.

The win strengthens Co.gency’s longstanding relationship with Wodonga Council and underscores the agency’s commitment to supporting regional communities through strategic, creative, and impactful marketing partnerships.

“We are thrilled that we will continue to work with the Wodonga Council team. Staying connected to our regional communities is very important to us and what better way to do that than by working alongside our local councils,” account director at Co.gency Albury, Nat Beddoes, told AdNews.

Co.gency’s regional presence is a key part of its value proposition, offering clients on-the-ground expertise and insights into the communities they serve.

“Having a regional presence is very important to clients who want to work with partners that understand their environment. We are committed to providing that as a service.” said managing director at Co.gency, Jon Bonwick, told AdNews.

Founded in 2015, Co.gency operates under a boutique, vendor-neutral model and services clients across the public and private sectors.

While the value of the account has not been disclosed, the appointment reflects an increased emphasis on structured and externally supported communications for the Wodonga Council.

The media appointment follows Cyclone Creative’s 2024 retention of Visit Albury Wodonga’s creative account, a separate initiative involving the council.
