Independent media agency Co.gency has been appointed to manage Racing Queensland's media account following a competitive tender.

The Brisbane-based agency will handle media strategy, planning and buying. The tender included competition from several local and national agencies.

"We are incredibly excited to partner with Racing Queensland, an organisation that plays a vital role in the state's sporting and economic landscape," said James Currah, managing partner at Co.gency.

Co.gency's appointment is effective immediately and the agency will work to drive engagement and growth across Queensland's thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing codes.

"Co.gency demonstrated a deep understanding of our business and a clear vision for how to connect with our audiences," said Mitch Jones, general manager marketing and events at Racing Queensland.

"We were impressed by their strategic thinking and collaborative approach, and we look forward to a successful partnership."

Sam Buchanan, chief executive of the Independent Media Agencies of Australia, said the appointment reflects the growing capability of independent agencies.

"The fact that an independent agency like Co.gency could win such a significant account against well-established network agencies speaks volumes about the talent and agility of the independent sector," Buchanan said.

"It's a testament to independent agencies' strategic thinking and ability to deliver exceptional value."
