M+C Saatchi has appointed Rhian Mason to the newly created role of managing partner, leading the agency’s Passions & PR business, which includes M+C Sport & Entertainment, Social, PR and Influencer.
The hire expands the agency’s leadership across sport, entertainment, content and experiences, with a focus on earned-first, socially driven ideas.
Mason will oversee local growth in M+C Sport & Entertainment, which works with brands such as Adidas, Heineken, Coca-Cola, Samsonite and LEGO.
She joins from Clemenger BBDO, where she led the earned attention offering as head of cultural design.
Mason said the opportunity was about working with brands that want to lead through passion.
“Passions are where Australians connect most deeply, through sport, entertainment and culture,” she said.
“Around the world, M+C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment has built culture-shaping work, and my ambition is to create that same impact here in Australia.”
Her 15-year career includes senior roles at Emotive, DDB, and Mediabrands, working across clients including Asahi, L’Oréal, BMW, IKEA, Google and McDonald’s.
“This is a hugely exciting moment for us,” said M+C Saatchi ANZ managing director Tanya Vragalis.
“Rhian is one of the best in the business, and her arrival is a statement of intent.
“We are building an agency that doesn’t just respond to culture, but creates it, and Rhian will play a central role in further making that a reality.”
She reports globally to Robin Clarke, Global CEO of M+C Sport & Entertainment, and locally to Vragalis. Mason is based in the Sydney office and has already started in the role.
