Les Timar is stepping down as CEO at Clemenger Group in June.

He was appointed in 2021 and has worked for Clemenger for the last 27 years.

“It has been the greatest privilege of my career to serve as the CEO of this truly extraordinary, storied and diverse company,” Timar said.

“I have had the opportunity of working with so many talented people who have brought their innovative thinking and boundless energy to our clients’ most important business problems.”

The news aligns with Omnicom seeking acquire the 13.165% shares of Clemenger Group held by staff and directors, ahead of Omnicom's takeover of IPG.

The number of Clemenger employees at the end of 2024 was 1,496, down from 1,712 the year before.

The Clemenger CEO role will be taken over by former chief operating & financial officer Adrian Ciabotti on an interim basis.

Timar initially joined Clemenger Group in 1998 when it acquired a majority stake in the company he co-founded, which evolved to become GRACosway.

He worked as the CEO of GRACosway, the group’s trans-Tasman public affairs and strategic communications firm.

“I’d like to particularly thank Robert Morgan, Peter Clemenger and Hylton Mackley for their belief in me and their respective contributions over many decades to Clemenger Group,” Timar said.

Robert Morgan, chairman of Clemenger Group, who is also leaving, said it had been a privilege to work with Les Timar.

"He is an outstanding leader and has done a brilliant job as CEO of Clemenger Group over the past four years," Morgan said.

"He also co-founded and led GRACosway for many years and made it into a market leader. An all-time great Clemenger person!”
