Independent Special has appointed Tash Johnson national head of production, a new role to oversee the company's film, photography and digital content operations across Sydney and Melbourne.

Johnson joins from CHEP Network where she spent four years as national head of integrated production.

She will lead Special's in-house production studio Special Made, which handles content creation, photography and post-production services.

"Tash is a brilliant, people-first leader with infectious energy and a genuine passion for craft," said Tori Lopez, managing director at Special.

"Her experience and future-focused approach make her the perfect person to shape this next chapter of production at Special."

Johnson previously worked for more than seven years in senior producer roles at DDB Sydney, with earlier positions at M&C Saatchi, The Monkeys and Host Sydney.

"Having always admired the work that Special does, when the opportunity came up to lead their production team, I naturally jumped at the chance," Johnson said. "Special is home to some of the most iconic campaigns."
