CarExpert New Zealand has appointed Matthew Hansen editor and Dave Kavermann motoring journalist ahead of its local launch next month.

CarExpert NZ is a joint venture between Trade Me and CarExpert.

Its remit is to help Kiwi buyers cut through complexity by providing clear, practical advice across every stage of the new-car buying journey.

“These appointments set the tone for the kind of leading automotive journalism that CarExpert New Zealand will stand for,” said CarExpert CEO, Damon Rielly.

“Local knowledge, editorial independence, and a genuine commitment to helping people buy the right car, without the run-around.”

Hansen's background includes co-founding motorsport outlet Velocity News, contributing as a specialist journalist for NZ Autocar Magazine and Driven at The New Zealand Herald, and most recently serving as editor of Motoring at Stuff.co.nz.

Kavermann co-found a New Zealand Motorsport Annual with his father. He also became a Motorsport New Zealand and V8 Supercar photographer, which led to him working as a motoring journalist for The New Zealand Herald.
