Online bookmaker Betstar has awarded its creative account to Sputnik Melbourne following a five-way pitch, replacing Smart.

Sputnik started working on the account this month, after a pitch was held at the end of last year, which involved Smart. The appointment is on a rolling contract basis.

Sputnik will produce an integrated campaign across radio, outdoor, and online, with the first campaign due at the end of the month.

Betstar managing director Alan Eskander said: "We felt Sputnik was best suited to provide the strategic and traditional advertising services that we needed, whilst having the digital expertise that is imperative to grow an online business like ours."

Sputnik general manager Andrew Siwka said: "Sputnik loves working with challenger brands like Betstar. We are very excited about kicking off the year with such an exciting brand."
