The iHeart Women’s Sports Network has launched its news bulletins across the network's metro and regional stations.
The daily bulletins and dedicated content are now broadcasting across the GOLD, KIIS, and ARN regional network, marking a commitment from the network to permanent, dedicated coverage rather than seasonal highlights.
The daily bulletins are spearheaded by Rana Hussain, a prominent voice in inclusion, Olympic Gold Medallist Sally Pearson OAM, and Fox Sports AFLW reporter Hannah Davies.
Hussain said the network will provide greater visibility and inclusion in women's sports.
''The iHeart Women’s Sport Network represents an important shift towards more thoughtful, inclusive storytelling in women’s sport,” Hussain said.
“I’m excited by the opportunity to help elevate voices and contribute to a media space built on connection and respect.''
Pearson reflected on her own journey and how this representation would have helped.
“Representation of women’s sport in the media is something I have always been passionate about and growing up as a young athlete, it’s something that would’ve really helped inspire me along my journey,” she said.
“Being a part of the iHeart Women’s Sport Network is the first step to help shifting the narrative and supporting female athletes, no matter where they are in their journey.”
Davies, an alumni of the Making the Call program, said the platform is important for the next generation.
“I’m so excited to be joining ARN on this new venture,” she said.
“Women’s sport has been fundamental to my life - and I’m honoured to be part of the next wave of giving women and non-binary athletes the spotlight.”
In partnership with Making the Call, the iHeart Women’s Sports Network has committed a percentage of every dollar invested into the network toward funding pathways into sports media.
This commercial model ensures that the growth of the network directly supports the next generation of female and non-binary sports journalists.
Beyond the hourly bulletins, the network serves as a hub for some of the most influential sports podcasts in the country. The lineup includes Two Good Sports with Abbey Gelmi and Georgie Tunny, No Dribble featuring netball legends Liz Ellis AO and Catherine Cox AM, The [Female] Athlete Project with Olympian Chloe Dalton, and Cricket Australia’s The Scoop.
There are also international titles from Rennae Stubbs and WNBA icon Sheryl Swoopes.
