Following a temporary hold, ANZ has confirmed it has reinstated its review of the bank’s media agency account in Australia, AdNews can reveal.
“Following a brief pause of our media agency RFP review for Australia, ANZ confirms that we have reinstated the process and all agencies involved have been notified of the next phase,” an ANZ spokesperson told AdNews.
The review, which initially began in August 2025, forms part of a broader assessment of ANZ’s media partnerships across Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian component of the review was temporarily paused in October 2025 as part of a company-wide strategy refresh, while the New Zealand process continued uninterrupted.
The Australian RFP review recommenced in December 2025.
The media review is designed to ensure ANZ remains focused on high-impact initiatives aligned with its evolving business strategy.
It will assess the bank’s ongoing partnership with PHD, which has held the Australian media account for 14 years, alongside other potential agency partners.
The pause and subsequent restart follow several strategic changes at ANZ, including the appointment of Leo Burnett as its lead creative agency in 2024 and the recent rollout of its ANZ 2030 strategy.
The bank had previously signaled that the media review would consider shifting trends in the media landscape, including the impact of new technologies, data, AI, and evolving agency models.
Despite the review, PHD continues to manage ANZ’s media account, with no immediate changes to the bank’s media strategy.
