ANZ announces Kjetil Undhjem as head of marketing and brand strategy

ANZ has announced the appointment of Kjetil Undhjem as head of marketing and brand strategy for its Australia division.

Undhjem, basedin Melbourne, will lead ANZ’s Marketing Centre of Excellence as well as driving marketing excellence across the bank’s Australia Retail & Commercial arm.

ANZ’s Chief Marketing Officer Sweta Mehra says: “After undertaking an extensive recruitment process, we were impressed with Kjetil’s rich background and experience across industries.

“I have no doubt his broad skill set will be a welcome addition to our Australia business and build a new chapter of marketing excellence and commercial acumen.”

Undhjem’s career has spanned a number of sectors and countries with deep experience in brand consultancy and FMCG. He comes from nine years at Mondelēz International, where he was senior category director for western Europe chocolate, based in Zurich, and prior to that category director for chocolate Australia and New Zealand, in Melbourne. He previously worked at the Union Bank of Norway.

“I’m excited to be heading up the passionate and proud Marketing and Brand Strategy team for Australia," Undhjem says.

"I look forward to the challenge of navigating the changes occurring in the financial services sector – particularly technology disruption and new competitors.

“The competitiveness and customer obsession I’ve experienced in consumer goods will form a solid platform for the changes ANZ is working through."

Undhjem has a MBA in Finance and Risk Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, Arizona.
