Andrew Mudgway has resigned from SBS after his role as national TV and digital sales manager was moved back to Sydney from Melbourne.

In an internal note to staff, SBS' director of media sales, Adam Sadler, says Mudgway, who been in the role for the past five years, decided after "extensive discussions" that it is not possible for him to move to Sydney for family reasons.

"During the past five years I have worked shoulder to shoulder with Mudge who has been a key player in our commercial success. He has ensured SBS consistently punches above our weight in revenue and share across Television and Digital markets," he says.

"As you all know, he has some of the best relationships, with both clients and agencies, in the market and has led a high performing sales team delivering a top three net promoter across both TV and BVOD from Media-i. He was also a key lead in our highly successful 2022 FIFA World Cup revenue success and delivery for partners."

Before joining SBS, Mudgway worked at Fairfax for three and a half years as the national agency sales director and before that, the Victorian agency sales director. He served as the MD of Melbourne for Initiative from late 2010 to mid 2015.

SBS will in the new year begin recruitment for the role.
