Amobee director takes on PocketMath GM role

Mobile-focused ad platform PocketMath has hired ex-Amobee, Yahoo7 and Adconian exec, Jonathan Smith, as its Australia and New Zealand GM.

Smith had served as the national sales director for Amobee for four years before making the move. Prior to that, he was Victorian sales director for Adconian and News Digital Media. He began his career at Cody Premium Outdoor. 

PocketMath is a Singapore-US startup that has carved out a specialty in mobile advertising. Late last year, it secured
US$10 million in Series A funding from Rakuten Ventures, the venture capital vehicle of Japanese e-commerce firm Rakuten.
Its Rakuten Ichiba platform is the largest ecommerce site in Japan, and is among the world's biggest players in that space. 

The firms claims 20 billion ad impressions daily and supports multiple ad networks including MoPub, Opera Mediaworks and InMobi.  

Smith takes up his new role as of 1 October.
