Akcelo has been appointed agency of record for Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) following a national pitch.

QAL operates Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports, which together handle about eight million passengers a year across more than 35 domestic and international routes.

The appointment gives Akcelo a full-service brief across brand, strategy, creative, design, digital, social, website experience and events, covering both brand and retail activity.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Queensland Airports as they embark on a bold new era of growth and innovation,” Akcelo chief executive, Aden Hepburn, said.

“Airports are more than just transit hubs, they’re economic engines and cultural gateways. We can’t wait to help shape the strategic and creative vision for four of Australia’s most important regional airports.”

The agency previously worked with QAL on a website refresh before being invited to pitch for the wider account, which was awarded in June.

“We were impressed by Akcelo’s ability to blend strategy with creative ambition,” QAL chief commercial officer, Adam Rowe, said.

“We are looking forward to working together to elevate how our airport brand engages with travellers, partners and the broader community.”

The move follows QAL’s acquisition in April by a consortium including KKR and Skip Essential Infrastructure Fund.
