The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) and Clubs Australia have today launched the $20 million marketing campaign to rally against the government's planned pokies reform.

The $20 million marketing campaign is being launched by Clubs Australia president Peter Newell, who is presenting a speech at the National Press Club in Canberra today in an attempt to curb government plans to bring mandatory pre-committment technology into Australian poker machines.

It comes as the The Salvation Army and representatives from the Uniting, Catholic, Baptist and Anglican churches have formed the Australian Churches Gambling Taskforce, to support the government's plans.

The AHA and Clubs Australia ad campaign will run across print, television, radio, outdoor and online. The print and online elements of the campaign launch next week, while other elements will launch at a later date. The lobby groups have appointed Banjo Advertising to create the campaign.

The proposed national reforms, which seek to limit problem gambling, are being pushed by the Gillard government as it seeks to retain the support of Tasmanian independent and anti-gambling advocate Andrew Wilkie.

Wilkie has already spoken against the marketing campaign.
