AFL viewership on Kayo Sports has surged in 2025, with audiences up 25% on last year and 3.4 billion minutes already streamed as the season nears its halfway point.
Fox Footy has overhauled its coverage this year, introducing dedicated commentary teams, new graphics, and 4K broadcasts for every game.
Thursday Night Footy viewership on Kayo Sports is up 41% after 11 rounds, with all-new calling duo of Matt Hill and Mark Howard and analysis from Sarah Jones, Jason Dunstall, David King and Leigh Montagna.
Friday Night Footy viewership on Kayo Sports is up 30%, with Anthony Hudson and Gerard Whateley calling the games alongside analysis from Garry Lyon, Jonathan Brown, Nathan Buckley, and Jordan Lewis.
The Round 8 match between Collingwood and Geelong was the most-streamed game of the season, drawing an average audience of 389,000, with overall Saturday viewership up 27%.
The ANZAC Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon drew the second-largest streaming audience of the season with 381,000 viewers.
Fox Sports managing director Steve Crawley said he couldn’t be happier with the broadcaster’s new calling combinations.
“We have loved the opportunity to bring fans the fresh Fox Footy look and sound, with our graphics and commentary teams, to Thursday and Friday Night Footy for the first time,” he said.
“The numbers tell us we have hit the right note, backed by some quality on-field contests.”
Kayo Sports executive director Cate Hefele said she’s seen a surge in viewing this AFL season, as more fans come onto the platform.
“What’s most pleasing is seeing audience growth across the entire round with fans choosing our dedicated commentary teams, graphics, 4K and no ads during live play,” she said.
“These numbers, including the record numbers for Saturday’s Round 8 Pies and Cats clash, are helping drive growth across the Foxtel Group, as more fans tune into Fox Footy’s coverage.”
