AdNews TV: Screen wars - “TV's biggest legacy is its name”

27 May 2015

The Screen Wars session at the AdNews Media Sumit was a hotbed of discussion about the current state of the TV market, and its evolution. Not to mention the onstage exchange of $50 between Nine's Peter WIltshire and OMD's Peter Horgan - all in jest.

“The experience of traditional TV experience for the consumer has not been that good. Disruption will happen when the consumer wants a better way to experience TV," stated UM CEO Mat Baxter. Meanwhile Nine's Peter Wiltshire claimed that TV's issue is the inherent legacy in being called TV - in that it seems to exclude small screen in the conversation.

A heated debate ensued. Watch the highlights:

Clive Dickens, Chief Digital Officer, Seven West Media
Mat Baxter, CEO, UM
Mark Frain, National Sales & Marketing Director, Multi Channel Network
Peter Wiltshire, Group Sales & Marketing Director, Nine Entertainment Co.
Rebekah Horne, Chief Digital Officer, Network Ten
Peter Horgan, CEO, OMD
