The AdNews Agency of the Year Awards are Australia's leading agency awards.

Now that the first week back to work is nearly done and dusted it's time to turn your minds to the prestigious and highly sought-after AdNews Agency of the Year Awards.

The deadline for the AdNews Agency of the Year Awards is fast approaching (this Tuesday 20 January) so make sure you have downloaded the entry kit to be in with a chance of taking home the top gong.

For the 2014-related awards there are also two new categories. The new Best use of Data and Branded Content Awards have been introduced to reflect the changing nature of the work agencies and brands are creating, the ever growing role that data plays and the shift towards creating content – not just campaigns.

There are 21 categories, including 11 agency awards, two network awards and three campaign awards. Points from the AdNews Agency of the Year also get included in the AdNews Agency Rankings.

Last year against very real competition, CumminsRoss (now Cummins&Partners) scooped the top honours and was named the AdNews Agency of the Year 2013, due to its rapid emergence, growth and its stance on fusing media and creative under one roof.

The independent, founded by advertising veteran Sean Cummins in 2011, beat out strong competition in the final reckoning for the overall award from fellow category winners Match Media, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, The Monkeys and Maud.

"The AdNews Agency of the Year Award is most prized by us because it is about total agency performance,” Cummins said.

“It recognises all the moving parts that create a great agency. And it humbled us to win it in only our third year.”

Fellow indie Match Media picked up Media Agency of the Year, Clemenger BBDO Melbourne continued its dominance as Victorian Agency of the Year, 2013's overall winner The Monkeys took out NSW Agency of the Year and design hotshot Maud was named Emerging Agency of the Year.

AdNews editor Rosie Baker said: "It's fantastic to hear what winning at our awards means to agencies and individuals in our industry – for us it's an honour to be able to recognise the achievements of Australian agencies and the great work that is being produced by them and their clients – much of which is also globally recognised work.”

Supported by major sponsor Nine Entertainment Co with other sponsors such as IAB Australia, Facebook, Gumtree, Adstream, Val Morgan, RoyalAuto, Think TV, Smooth FM, EMMA, Blue Star and red carpet sponsor Bauer Media Group, the event takes place at at The Dockside Pavilion, Darling Harbour, Sydney on 5 March.
