Australian Community Media (ACM) has made a string of new hires across its editorial, commercial, and marketing teams as the news business positions for growth.

In the commercial team Anna Hosking has been promoted to commercial director for national sales. Hosking, who has been with ACM for 18 months, will be responsible for the agency sales team nationally.

Meanwhile, Nathan Soulsby joins as sales director for NSW national sales. Soulsby previously held a number of senior roles at SCA, across both Sydney and the Central Coast.

Also joining the commercial team is Sam Westaway as national client solutions director. Westaway will be responsible for creating and monetising bespoke commercial assets across the suite of ACM brands. He has spent the past seven years in senior media agency roles including running Bohemia’s Melbourne office.

Angela Haydon has also been promoted to sales director for Victoria national sales.

“It's a testament to the business we are building that we can attract such high-calibre individuals,” says ACM chief revenue officer Sharon Fitter.

“The commercial division’s mission is to grow our customers' business through insights-led, creative media solutions and I‘m confident with the changes and additions we’re announcing today we are well positioned to deliver on this promise.”

In the editorial team, ACM has also named Jen Melocco as national property news director and Karen Barlow as chief political correspondent based in Canberra.

Melocco was previously editor of Domain Magazine, where she also worked with ACM executive chairman Antony Catalano during his time at Domain. In her new role, Melocco will oversee the ACM assets and realesateview.com.au.

Barlow has spent 25 years in journalism, previously working at ABC Lateline and as a federal political reporter for SBS.

“It's an exciting time to be at ACM,” says ACM MD Tony Kendall.

“The commitment from the owners to continue to invest in the business and focus on growth allows us to attract and retain high-calibre people and I’m excited to be announcing a number of changes and new appointments today across editorial, commercial and marketing.”
