Lisa Davies is stepping down as CEO of national newswire Australian Associated Press.
Davies, a former editor of the Sydney Morning Herald who started her career at AAP as a cadet, stepped in to run the news agency three years ago.
“The opportunity to be CEO at the place I learned the importance of factual, impartial journalism has been an honour and a privilege,” she said.
“I'm proud of what we've achieved over the past three years and will always be an advocate for Australian Associated Press (AAP).”
Davies hasn’t revealed her next move.
General counsel Emma Cowdroy is, for a second time, the acting CEO.
Davies became CEO in 2022 after AAP became a not for profit following the departure of shareholders Nine Entertainment and News Corp.
The federal government has been providing funding of $11 million a year to keep the newswire going.
