The Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) will open a public review of its Code of Ethics next week, calling for feedback from the industry and broader community.

The review will assess whether the current code still aligns with community expectations and invites submissions on all aspects, including potential alignment with Australian Consumer Law and international standards.

According to Ad Standards, Australians remain largely tolerant of strong language in advertising, but concern is rising over sexualised imagery, particularly where children may be exposed.

The AANA said the review process will involve consultation with advertisers, agencies and digital platforms.

Member engagement is central to shaping a code that “sets the benchmark for responsible advertising in Australia,” the organisation said.

Submissions close at 5pm on Friday, January 16.
