Creative Brett D'Souza, shunning the real estate industry, has launched a multi pronged guerilla campaign to sell his three bedroom freestanding house in Melbourne’s Brunswick.

The campaign, billed as Australasia’s Greatest ever house sale, also showcases his skills with film as he takes to the streets, doing contra deals for services, and apparently upsetting real estate agents.

“I've been advertising for years. I don't understand why I would just give someone $35,000-$40,000 to just put it online,” he says.

Post COVID lockdowns he’s found the advertising industry changed, making it difficult to make the same living he did as a freelancer.

So he's selling up.

"‘I realised after putting the house online that I’ve made some really bad plant choices… and a mural of a triceratops is not for everyone."

Private Sale has partnered with specialist inner city garden designer Patrick Belford, owner of Inner City Nature.

And it seems D'Souza already has his next target in sight.

"I think the house could use white goods and audio-visual equipment, how cool would that be?

"And in return, I’m offering a comedy ad written and directed by me."

D’Souza specialises in comedy and documentaries.  He says it’s the combination you never know you needed.

Asked which and what brands he hopes to attract, he said: "A good comedy spot is hard to find, the R.O.I on this… for the brand, is huge. It doesn’t even need to be an appliance brand.

"If you want to shake things up and make something funny. Meet me at the corner of 6 Walton Street…. with the goods. And let’s chat."

The campaign has so far had four flavours.

In episode 4, D’Souza takes things to a whole new level.
