Network Ten, with the ink still wet on popular chief sales officer Rod Prosser’s resignation, is reportedly considering outsourcing its advertising sales.
The AFR said Ten has held discussions to outsource its entire Australian sales arm and Paramount global’s president of international markets advertising sales, Lee Sears, is in Australia this week.
Sears is considering emulating Paramount’s structure in the UK, where it owns free-to-air network Channel 5, the AFR said.
In 2015, Channel 5 outsourced its ad sales to Sky, making 100 people redundant but maintaining £314 million in advertising revenue in 2024.
Companies which could take over Paramount’s Australian sales include Nine, Southern Cross Media and Foxtel Media.
Nine, Ten, Seven and Foxtel have hinted over the last six months at more cooperation this year.
Prosser, writing in an end of year perspective for AdNews, said television is entering its most collaborative era yet.
Mark Frain, CEO, Foxtel Media, also writing for AdNews, said 2026 might see the beginning of a unified marketplace, with consolidated data partnerships.
“Fewer siloed sales teams with more aggregated sales capability across the sector,” he said.
“Expect some bold decisions as businesses race to define what comes next.”
