Aldi UK is running its Christmas commercial, via McCann UK, with a Dickensian-style take on A Christmas Carol.

Ebanana Scrooge is reminded of the joys of the festive season by Kevin the Carrot, who returns to the aldi Christmas commercial again this year despite rumours to the contrary.

Sean McGinty, marketing director at Aldi UK: “It wouldn’t be the festive season without Kevin the Carrot on our TV screens, and we’re thrilled to be bringing him back for the sixth year for his many fans, in what we think is his best Yuletide performance yet.

“We hope our campaign will remind everyone of the true meaning of Christmas.”

The animated Yuletide story introduces a medley of fruit and vegetable characters, including Marcus Radishford, which is voiced by the England striker Marcus Rashford, as well as Tiny Tom, Peas and Goodwill and Kevin’s Dickensian family.

McCann: "Move over Kevin the Carrot. Ebanana Scrooge is now in town.

"And he’s not exactly spreading peas and goodwill. Far from it.

"Still traumatised from being rejected by Santa as a baby banana, he doesn’t like Christmas. In fact, he hates it.

"As a result, he has now set out to spoil everyone’s festive fun.

"Will he succeed? Or will he finally discover his true Christmas spirit?"
