Respect Victoria is partnering with local multicultural communities to share the stories of 14 men exploring their experiences of masculinity in a campaign via Polaron Creative.
Speaking in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Punjabi, Arabic and Cantonese, the campaign shares the pressures and joys men experience as fathers, partners, friends, and online.
Minister for the prevention of family violence, Ingrid Stitt, said the campaign reflected the Victorian Government’s commitment to preventing violence against women, and to working alongside multicultural communities to elevate their voices and experiences.
“Preventing violence against women starts with conversations about what it means to be a man” Stitt said.
“Not everyone’s experience of masculinity is the same. This campaign centres the voices of men from multicultural communities, sharing their stories and experiences in their own languages.”
The campaign is live across digital and radio.
Respect Victoria CEO Helen Bolton said the campaign built on the success of the original What Kind of Man Do You Want to Be? campaign by placing values, lived experience and cultural relevance at its core.
“This campaign is the first of its kind, inviting men to speak in their own languages to open up about their relationship to masculinity, how they can rethink the ‘rules’, and how they embrace vulnerability,” said Bolton.
