J. Walter Thompson is encouraging people to give a rescue pet a home this Christmas for Sydney Dogs & Cats Home.

As part of its ongoing pro bono relationship with Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, J. Walter Thompson Sydney have teamed up for an outdoor Christmas campaign.

The ads show Australians wrapped up like a gift with the text, "All they want for Christmas is you".

Sydney Dogs & Cats Home GM Claire Garth says: “We are the only pet shelter in Sydney to never place a time limit on the animals in our care. To remain viable, we rely on the generosity of the community to ensure we can continue finding new homes for thousands of abandoned pets every year."

The work taps into the pre-Christmas mindset when people are pre-occupied with shopping.

“At Christmas time, when people are all wrapped up in the spirit of giving, we wanted to remind them that giving a rescue pet a home is the greatest gift of all, and for those unable to adopt, donating to our cause helps us to continue giving second chances to every animal in need," Garth adds.

This campaign builds on J. Walter Thompson’s previous work for SD&CH, including the successful #AlmostHomeless campaign which helped generate the 10,000 signatures needed to lobby the NSW Government to find a new home for the shelter.

As well as the ongoing #FollowAStray Instagram campaign which aims to turn Travis Barker the stray into a celebrity who can raise funds for the shelter through advertising.
