Origin Energy introduces Predictable Plan

You’ll no longer have to survive off baked beans when the energy bill comes around, because now you can predict how much to budget.

Origin Energy has launched a campaign to introduce its new ‘Predictable Plan’, a service that allows Australians predict and budget more effectively when it comes to their finances by locking in how much they will pay each month regardless of how much they use.

In the 30-second TV commercial, a daggy dad tries to correctly predict his energy bill in front of a less than impressed family who are a bit sick of predictable dad jokes.

The campaign will be supported through TV, digital, catch-up TV, social, print and outdoor. The product and associated campaign marketing will aim to differentiate Origin and build trust in a category where there has traditionally been a low level of differentiation.

Origin Energy group manager, marketing, Gretchen Fox, says the plan addresses the concerns of customers who find it difficult to budget without knowing their energy bill is going to be.

"Predictable Plan removes any nasty surprises by allowing customers to lock in their energy costs for the entire year and pay the same amount monthly or fortnightly," says Fox.
