Lidl gives important advice to customers looking to make the most of their Christmas buys in new ad spot

Discount German retail brand Lidl tries to teach customers how to make the most of Christmas in their new seasonal UK ad.

In its Lidl #SchoolOfChristmas campaign dozens of excited customers are seen pouring in from the snowy outdoors into a school to learn how to make the most of their Christmas food shopping, decorating efforts and more.

From tongue-in-cheek tutorials in Christmas pudding lighting to how to make the perfect leftover sandwich and snowman construction, there's plenty of advice.

“How's that gonna get in there?” exclaims an exasperated teacher as one man is seen trying to shove an oversized turkey into the oven. Even proper fairy light storage gets the Lidl #SchoolofChristmas treatment.

The ad ends with the slogan, “Everything Lidl thing for Christmas” and the hashtag #SchoolOfChristmas.

For the first time Lidl debuted the ad on social media, following up with a TV spot later the same day. In a move similar to Tesco's recent Halloween campaign in the UK, Lidl has complimented the ad with a series of tutorial videos on its YouTube channel.

The brand is expected to open its first Australian store in Melbourne before the end of the year.
