Major global corporations such as Google and Microsoft have come under scrutiny for their tax arrangements that see earnings offshored to reduce the Australian tax paid. News laws have come into play and a government campaign aims to educate businesses about the changes.

The new laws aim to stop multinationals taking advantage of loopholes to minimise the australian tax they pay, and it’s estimated that nearly $4 billion in missed tax could be recovered as a result.

The ads by BMF have rolled out over the past week and the campaign includes TV ads, print, online and radio.

BMF managing director Steve McArdle says: “It’s important that the Australian public have faith in our tax system. Our task was to communicate the steps the government is taking to protect its integrity. In doing so, we hope we’ve been able to bring simplicity and elegance to what could be considered a complex subject matter.”
