Dating site eHarmony promises 'Better Matches, Better Dates' in TV ad showing awkward mismatched date

Dating site eHarmony is tapping into online daters' worst nightmares in its latest TV ad, which shows a laid back and somewhat out-of-shape guy scrambling to keep up with a fitness freak on a badly-matched date.

The incongruous pair are seen trying to keep up an increasingly strained conversation as the double-chinned man is put through his paces on a selection of fitness equipment by the lycra-wearing gym bunny.

The couple then toast to their gym date, clinking glasses of green smoothie. As the woman suggests, “We should do this again”, a close-up of the by-now slightly terrified and rather sweaty man is shown.

“Other sites match you on a picture and a paragraph, eHarmony's questionnaires dig deeper and makes finding a better match a lot easier,” says a voiceover that closes the ad.

The ad is the latest in the online dating site's four part 'Better Matches,Better Dates' campaign.

Lynsey Tomkinson, eHarmony’s senior marketing manager says: “This latest campaign captures the funny side of being mismatched on a date, while giving singles an alternative that really works. EHarmony matches users on compatible values, ambitions and personalities, which results in better dates.”
Creative: Kalido.
