Day Two
This morning we saw the listing of all entrants on the Cannes Lions website. I've done some counting and this is what I've come up with the following stats:
30 categories. 2157 entries. The biggest category was Best Integrated with 220 contenders
Australian media agencies contributed to around 134 entries, which works out to be 6% of global entries - not bad at all.
Of these, UM, OMD and Starcom made up the majority, however creative agencies also had a good crack at the media awards. Of particular note were Leo Burnett and DDB.
Around 5pm this afternoon Maura and Eb received their Young Lions brief. I understand it's something to do with a global charity/cause (as it usually is) and they spent a few hours thinking about possible solutions then succumbed to the jetlag and went to bed early with the hope of waking fresh and of clear minds.
Tomorrow they've just got to come up with the best idea in the world (literally) and put a few slides together... I'm sure their intentions of a restful night won't quite work out with such a task weighing on their minds.
Best of luck girls.
