Horwitz publications and the Austereo radio network have joined forces to produce a radio program, Inside Sport Ñ balls and all, a lively and comic spin-off from Inside Sport magazine.Steve Smith, general manager sales & marketing with Austereo MCM, says the program will target 16-24 year-old men and hopes to attract new advertisers to both media. He says it is the only national live sports show on radio, and advertisers will be offered a print and broadcast package. Gatorade will be the main sponsor. After eight successful weekly broadcasts in Melbourne, the program has gone national, broadcasting on Sunday mornings between 8am and 10am EST on the Triple M network in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and some regional stations. The three presenters of the radio program have backgrounds in comedy, sport and journalism. None are well known outside Melbourne, as Austereo hopes to develop its own talent. The editorial team from Inside Sport magazine provide some story leads for the radio program, and in return the radio program raises the profile of the magazine. ÒWe want the show to be as informative as possible,Ó says Greg Hunter, Inside Sport editor. ÒBeing a glossy magazine we have a longer lead time, but we use the radio program for greater immediacy.Ó Evan Mistilis
