Publisher The Economist has handed ZenithOptimedia its full service media business.

Ian Perrin chief executive of ZenithOptimedia, said: "The Economist is not only one of the world’s most recognisable brands, but also one of the most influential. We are excited about partnering with them to deliver their communications in a unique and open way that befits this prestigious brand."

The win comes off the back of six months of new business for the agency, including NT Tourism, Lactalis Parmalat and Comparethemarket.com.au. Pharmaceutical company Merck also recently reappointed ZO after a pitch.

ZO's stewardship of The Economist's media account is effective immediately.
