Slingshot fought the law... and the Slingshot won

To promote the opening night of hit musical The Lion King in Sydney tonight, Slingshot Media has made history, working with the NSW Government to change ad laws for a new outdoor campaign.

As part of the launch of The Lion King musical, NSW taxi cabs have been completely wrapped in Lion King livery.

Previously, taxi cab advertising legislation did not allow taxis to be covered in advertising, and ads were required to be placed on specified areas on the taxi.

Will this campaign lead to a whole new level of outdoor creativity in the taxi cab space? Possibly. Either way Slingshot senior strategist Beck Hamilton said persistence had paid off.

“It’s sensational to see Destination New South Wales, Cabcharge and the NSW Taxi Council embrace our concept. The cabs turn heads; you can’t help but get excited about the musical when you see one drive by.

“It’s been a group effort; our production team led by Jonathan Worsley has done a stellar job in creating the graphics and translating them into a 3D medium.

“I’m especially proud of the fact we never gave up. We’re all about taking our clients to places previously thought impossible."
