EXCLUSIVE: Origin Energy has awarded its media account to GroupM's Mindshare after incumbent UM decided not to re-contest the business.

AdNews understands Mindshare has won the account after a pitch overseen by consultancy Enth Degree. UM, its previous agency, had resigned the business.

Origin increased its main media spend significantly to $32.4 million in the 12 months to June, according to Nielsen figures, up from $19.2 million in the prior corresponding period.

Origin Energy switched creative shops last year from DDB Melbourne to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne.

The brand's most recent high-profile work included the Fantale campaign which featured a heavy experiential component.
