Nine's Hamish and Andy finishes with a bang

The finale of Nine's Hamish and Andy attracted 1.29 million viewers last night. But it wasn't enough to beat Seven's X Factor which had an audience just shy of 1.5 million.

Hamish and Andy's Gap Year Asia, which aired at 7pm, finished with 1.29 million metro viewers, according to preliminary overnight ratings from Oztam. Other top-rating programs on Nine included its News format with 1.34 million and A Current Affair with 1.25 million. Big Brother lured 910,000.

Seven's The X Factor was the most-watched free-to-air program of the night with 1.49 million metro viewers. Seven News had 1.26 million, while Today Tonight had 1.05 million.

Meanwhile, Ten's MasterChef - its highest-rating program - had an audience of 742,000. Ten News at Five and The Project had 654,000 and 644,000 respectively.

Overall, Seven won the night with 23.1% of audience share followed closely by Nine with 22.2%. Ten had 11% while SBS had 4.3%.
