Sony’s Cyber-shot range released
Sony Australia has launched an integrated six-month campaign across broadcast, cinema and digital outlets to promote its 2011 Cyber-shot camera range. The new campaign encourages people to ‘Take Control of the Dark’ by bringing to life footage captured using a Cyber-shot Camera.

Jury’s out for Spikes awards
Spikes Asia has announced two of the eight juries that will judge the annual advertising and communications awards in Singapore this September. Twenty jury members have been selected to pick the winners from film, print, outdoor and radio.

Virgin Atlantic launches app
Virgin Atlantic has launched a new app that allows consumers to log on and share photos, videos and notes from their holidays, through social media. The 'Trip Journal' app, created by iQuest, allows users to upload holiday photos or videos and share with friends through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Picasa and Flickr.

Subway settles mobile hunger
Subway (in Britain) has become the first retailer to supply tel-co O2's location-based marketing service with scannable mobile vouchers. O2 More customers who have the You Are Here location service can receive multimedia messages and vouchers to their mobile when they are near a Subway store.

Melbourne unveils buildings app
Ten of Melbourne’s most iconic pieces of architecture can now be viewed on a new mobile app. The new app, The Sound of Buildings, gives you the full story behind some of the city’s most loved sites, including St Paul Cathedral, AMMI Park and the Melbourne Museum.

CVC to refinance $3b debt
Equity group CVC Asia Pacific has begun refinancing a $3.6 billion debt owed to Nine Entertainment’s syndicate of lenders. It’s understood CVC has approached Nine’s lenders about renegotiating the TV, magazine, ticketing and digital group’s $2.8 billion in senior debt and $800 million in mezzanine debt.

Gourmet acquisition all the flavour
Gourmet Ads has acquired one of the world’s largest recipe search engines, RecipeBridge, for an undisclosed amount. Customers will now have access to more than 1.7 million recipes from over 350 online sites.

FME sign deal with Sony
FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has signed a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment for brand licensing rights across TV and theatrical properties in Australia and New Zealand. Under the agreement FME will have the rights to licensed promotions, consumer products and new 3D films including Men In Black III.

tkm9 brings on creative directors
Full-service inline creative agency tkm9 has appointed creative directors to its Sydney and Melbourne offices. Justin Martino joins as creative director in Sydney while Tanya Michaelides will join Melbourne. tkm9 global managing director Mark Hodgens said he's looking forward to working with the new appointments.

Telecommunications review underway
A review of the nation’s telecommuncations service is underway amid complaints older Australians and people with disabilities are being left behind. Communications Minister, Senator Stephen Conroy, said the review will look at how the National Relay Service (NRS) can assit hearing or speech impaired people.

China Southern ties up with Sydney Festival
China Southern Airlines has signed on as Sydney Festival's first international sponsor, becoming the official airline for the 2012 festival. China Southern Airlines will also co-sponsor The Domain Concert Series, along with ANZ. The airline is also associated with the Ferrython on Sydney Harbour on Australia Day.
